Yoga teacher Johanna, practicing since 1995, teaching since 2011.

Meet Joanna, a yoga enthusiast who first discovered yoga at Its Yoga in San Francisco back in 1994. Her curiosity piqued by the Ashtangis' Ujaii breath and various arm balances she then rolled out her mat in 1995 during an Ashtanga class in the vibrant neighborhood of Notting Hill, London. From that very first session, she was captivated! With each breath synchronized to her movements, Joanna discovered the blissful state of meditative Flow, and she’s been flowing through her practice ever since. Joanna views yoga as a trusty old friend—one that she has joyfully reunited with at various stages of her life, always offering the perfect tools for growth and self-discovery. She earned her Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification from Starseed in Montclair in 2011 and has continued to expand her knowledge with a YA Kids Yoga certification and YA training in Yin Yoga. Currently, she teaches yoga from elementary to high school in Paterson Public Schools and is diving deeper into her practice as she completes her Advanced Yoga training with Raji Thron at Yoga Synthesis. Today, Joanna shares her passion by teaching Vinyasa Flow, emphasizing the blissful connection between breath and movement, as well as exploring the wonders of Kids Yoga and the deep, restorative practice of Yin Yoga. Joanna fosters a welcoming, lighthearted, and inclusive space for all students—helping all who join her on the mat to rediscover a sense of play, curiosity, and freedom that makes yoga a lifelong practice. You are invited to join this journey that’s as playful as it is profound!
